Los Angeles
Park (fed/state/local)
Griffith Park
East Bank of Los Angeles River
Facility condition (shelter, equipment)
City leaders begin planning for redevelopment of Griffith Park from a service yard for the city to a viable urban parkland. Numerous civic organizations have studied opportunities for playing fields, scenic pathways, trails, and public art.
Work to move the conceptual plan to reality within a year's time from planning to actual implementation. The community and city needs such rich greenspace.

Queens
Park (fed/state/local)
QueensWay Park
Forest Hills neighborhood
Landscape quality (aesthetic, clean)
Proposed park in Queens that would convert the 3-mile abandoned stretch of railway including the unused LIRR Rockaway Beach Branch Station into a greenspace, a bike trail, pedestrian paths, and neighborhood site.
This park reclamation is a great idea to rehabilitate vacant, abandoned, and littered land for usable purposes. Advocates should canvass the community including nearby businesses for contributions and support.

Champaign
Park (fed/state/local)
Hessel Park
Kirby Avenue between Prospect Ave. and State St.
Other issues
Restroom in park is in bad shape. Sink and toilets are dirty and virtually unusable. Leaves cover the inside ground with weak lighting. There isn't even soap for one thing (at least the men's restroom); a sanitary issue especially since children play in the nearby playground and sandbox and may need to use the facility.
Consider hiring a routine cleaner or set up a volunteer as part of a civil service program to maintain the restroom to adequate levels.
